How we compare

National permit services cover more of the country and more history. We do one metro, every week, cheaply. Here is what we promise, and what to ask anyone else before you sign.

Questions

What exactly do I get?

An email every Monday morning with every permit from the week before in your area and trade: the builder, their business phone where the city publishes one, the job address, the declared value and the type of job, plus a spreadsheet. The free pages here show the first 10 rows of that same list.

How fresh is it?

Monday's list covers permits issued Monday to Sunday of the week before. The City of Austin posts its permits daily. Some towns post monthly; their permits arrive when the town posts them, and the list says so instead of looking empty.

Do I get phone numbers?

Where the city publishes a builder's business phone, it's on the list. We never include a phone for an individual. Last week about 1 in 61 jobs across our lists came with a business phone; the rest give you the business name to look up.

Do you include homeowners?

No. We list businesses, never homeowners or other private individuals. When the builder on a permit is a person rather than a company, the list says so and leaves the name out.

How do I pick my area and trade?

Start from the sample page for the list you want, or pick both at checkout. You can change either by replying to any list.

How do I cancel?

Any time, from the billing page linked at the bottom of every page here, or by replying "cancel" to any list. No contract. The first two weeks are free; cancel before they end and you pay nothing.

Where does the data come from?

From the building permits each city publishes as public records. We read them every week and credit every source at the bottom of each page.
